Competition builds Confidence and Courage

In February, we proudly sponsored the International Academic Competition (IAC), which includes subject-specific contests, including, the National History Bee and Bowl, National Geography Bee, and National Science Bee. Our campus buzzed with energy as 150 academic athletes and their enthusiastic supporters gathered—among them, twelve dedicated Rohan Woods students. The competition was fierce, and the rewards went beyond medals and certificates.

At Rohan Woods School, we believe true learning requires courage—the courage to take risks in a safe, supportive environment where mistakes are not failures but steppingstones to growth. This was evident in students who, after hesitating last year, returned with newfound confidence. They discovered that competition isn’t just about knowledge, it’s about resilience. Stepping outside their comfort zones didn’t mean facing failure; it meant uncovering their own strength.

Unlike traditional classroom models, our Project Approach empowers students to tackle complex problems, think critically, and present their findings with confidence. Experiences like the International Academic Competition teach them to navigate challenges with curiosity, perseverance, and the willingness to take risks—whether that means trying a new strategy, speaking in front of an audience, or exploring an unfamiliar subject.

When students take ownership of their learning, transformation happens—hesitant voices grow bold, and self-doubt turns into determination.

That’s the power of a Rohan Woods education.
