Dear Families:
As I walked through the cafeteria today for our last lunch together, I was struck by how much the students have changed over the course of the year. It has nothing to do with weight or height or hair styles. It’s much deeper than that. While their little faces have changed and morphed into an older version, I don’t blame this on body growth or maturational level. More, so It seems to me, they have grown exponentially on the inside.
Ones who were timid at the beginning of the year, now have conversations using eye contact and expression. Other students who took life and school a little too seriously, have fun during lunch, looking much more relaxed and sure of themselves. I also noticed that those who tended to dominate conversations, have learned the give-and-take of interacting, being much more careful about walking on the words of others.
Changes like these don’t happen overnight, and they certainly don’t happen by chance. As is traditional in our community, parents and faculty work together to shape and mold and coax our children into becoming a little more responsible, a little more confident and a little more cognizant of those around us.
Please have a wonderful summer nurturing and cherishing your children. And thank you for entrusting your precious ones to us. We are humbled and proud to be a part of your lives.
All the best,
Sam
