Our Road to Reconnection

At Rohan Woods we are on a very important mission – to reconnect with our alumni.  Our aim is not to ask for anything, but it’s to share how the school has grown over the years.  We want to share our continued commitment to prepare students for their academic journeys, and really, for their most important journey – the one called life.

Recently, I had a most delightful experience on our quest for reconnection.  I invited alumni entering their Freshman through Senior year in high school to Rohan Woods for a reunion.  I see the students individually from time to time, as many will volunteer at the school or drop by to say hello.  But I haven’t seen them together.  I have to admit, I wasn’t sure how they would respond to seeing each other.  I know some of them stay in touch, but I wasn’t sure if they would still feel connected to their classmates.

Fifteen alumni arrived on campus one afternoon a few weeks ago, and it was magical.  It was as if they still attended school together and time had stood still.  They laughed and reminisced – their faces glowed with excitement catching up on each other’s life.  The conversations were genuine and heartfelt – it was quite moving to observe this unfold.

As all fifteen alumni ate pizza together, a question was posed. “Is it possible for us to do this again, soon?”  With pleasure, I agreed that we could plan something several times during the year and inquired about what they would like to do…go bowling…roller skating…something active?  Without missing a beat, one alumna said, “We don’t need anything to do, we just want to come to the school because we love it here.”  With this group, it sounds like our road to reconnection is already paved.
