Help Children Deal with Disturbing News

Dear Parents:

I received a communique yesterday from Donna Orem, President of the National Association of Independent Schools, regarding the tragedy in Las Vegas.  These acts of aggression are occurring at a rapid rate, dominating the nightly news each day. News of devastation from hurricanes and other natural disasters is likely also affecting children’s sense of security in the world.  The NAIS team compiled several resources below to help children cope.

Donna Orem stated, “Every day our schools do amazing work that help children succeed long into the future. But true success, in my opinion, isn’t demonstrated by standardized tests or college acceptances alone. The incredible human connections — the willingness to support others and be cared for in times of struggle — are the things that alumni talk about long after they’ve left our schools.”

Please use the resources below as you see fit – what best meets the needs of your family.  Also, please know that we are diligently watching over your children to ensure they’re feeling safe – intrinsically and extrinsically.

Sincerely,

Sam
