Katina Truman, our Admissions Associate, and I constantly take stock in the unfolding of admission’s season. We consider trends that other schools are experiencing, evaluate our outreach events and marketing, and analyze our statistics in the sequential steps of application to the school. Year-to-date as of December 31, 2016, our tours have increased by 30% and submitted applications are holding steady. Thus far, since our return in January, we have already scheduled more tours than all of January 2016. We have great momentum going and want to fuel it for longevity. We also want to test other avenues of reaching prospective families, as it is of great importance to provide many opportunities to interface with our school.
While traditionally we hold a fall open house on a Saturday for prospective families, we recognize that students aren’t in the building to bring the normal hustle and bustle of learning. To provide the opportunity for families to experience the “pulse” of a typical school day, we are adding a February open house that will be held during the school day from 8:30-10:30a on Thursday, February 16th.
Via our strategic marketing plan, we have a balance between print advertising and social media exposure, but our most successful means of connecting with potential families is word-of-mouth. Our parents are the most powerful marketing tool we have.
