In Unit 1, students learn Spanish greetings and introductions with the help of the Spanish tale, La Ratita Presumida (The Vain Little Mouse).
Some of what the students have learned this unit includes:
- introducing themselves to someone they don't know
- start and end a conversation appropriately
- write a response to an email from a pen pal
- distinguish before formal and informal greetings
In their interactive notebooks, students have been learning the subject pronouns. Gender, relative age, strength of friendship, and the type of relationship are just aspects to consider for the person being referred to. The students will continue to refer to this concept in their notes throughout the school year to determine when to use: Yo, tú, él, ella, usted, nosotros/nosotras, vosotros/vosotras, ellos, ellas, and ustedes.
