It’s hockey season in the gym for Rohan Woods P.E. classes!
Rohan Woods students have been hard at work playing floor hockey and developing their hockey skills. Students have been working on wrist shots, forehand passes, backhand passes, drop passes, and puck control dribbling. Students are learning rules to the game and playing small sided games as well as developmental hockey lead up games. Students in fourth, fifth and sixth grade are playing hockey during lunch league as well as after school hockey games. Students in fifth and sixth grade are getting prepared for the February 3rd floor hockey tournament hosted at Rohan Woods with six visiting schools.
Students in Pre-Kindergarten, Junior Kindergarten and Senior Kindergarten are using beginner hockey sticks to work on striking with an implement. All grades are also playing a hockey variation game called “broomball” which is an excellent lifetime sport activity. Some of the favorite games in this unit have included hockey bowling, line hockey, air hockey, scooter hockey and jailbreak.
