Students are making great progress as we wrap up first trimester. Recently, the middle school students filled their marble party jar. They voted to have their very own Cupcake Wars. The challenge was to dress the cupcakes in Halloween costumes. They were given mystery supplies and 15 minutes for the task. As always, they demonstrated wonderful creativity. Congratulations!
Students are moving along in both math and reading:
Math:
Students are finishing the unit on properties of fraction and addition/subtraction. During November, they will be multiplying, dividing and solving fraction problems. Students have completed the second cycle of the Math Review board. They will begin the third in November.
Reading:
During October, we continued reading Island of the Blue Dolphins. We are nearing the end of the story. Students have been using Google Drive to collaborate on a vocabulary list including pictures chosen from the internet to help understand the words in the book. They continue to read every night to add stamps on independent reading Flight Reports cards.
