As March begins, younger students will tumble, roll and swing into spring. Mats and bars will be set up for the opportunity to move like our favorite animals. Looking for leaping frogs, swinging monkeys, and climbing bears to take over the gym!
Upper school students wrap up their basketball unit with basketball playoffs in Lunch League, and the last of our Inter-League games. Students then begin passing, setting, and spiking on the volleyball court.
Our preschool classes focus on hitting up, hitting over, and using V arms to bump as part of their pre-volleyball skill development. Games include balloon races and Falling Stars. In tumbling, skills highlighted are forward roll, log roll, backward roll, bridges, and bar swings.
Older students are developing their overhand serve, accuracy in passing, and hitting. Just for fun games include Battleship, Newcomb, 4-square volleyball, and Serve-the-Seated. We are extending our Jump For Heart workouts, and taking them to playground to work on long rope jumping and an introduction to double dutch.
