Fourth Grade Class Update

The Fourth Graders have worked hard to complete their ERB testing.  Congratulations on a job well done!

In Language Arts we are finishing up Poppy by Avi. Students have created character sketches on their chosen character from the novel.  They have identified specific character traits, referenced proof from the novel to support their topic, and explained the character’s goal and possible solutions to the problem which they face. I am proud of the effort and detail which the Fourth Graders are putting into their writing assignments.

Our math topic this week is measuring and constructing angles. Students are exploring the protractor and learning more about how to use this tool to help them understand geometric shapes.

Math games are an important and fun part of our curriculum.  This gives students an opportunity to practice important math skills independently and learn from one another as they interact during the game. Practicing strategic moves and understanding cause and effect also come into play during these activities.

The Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Graders are practicing with the Modern American Dance Company (MADCO) for the Books in Motion presentation of the novel Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library by Chris Grabenstein.  Their presentation will be at 2:00 on May 3rd as part of Fine Arts Day.  Please be sure to mark your calendar now for this exciting presentation!
