Spring is here!! Not that winter was all that bad but it is so much fun to see everything turning green and blooming again. The EC students finished up March by learning about St. Patrick's Day, Dr. Seuss's birthday and rhyming, and talked about different modes of transportation.
They finished up their transportation unit by putting together planes to hang from the ceiling; it was high flying fun! The students then learned about Dr. Seuss. We focused mostly on rhyming and coming up with different words that rhyme. The students enjoyed making up silly words that rhymed with real words. We talked about how as long as the word sounds like another word, it's a rhyme, even if it isn't a real word. Lots of the words Dr. Seuss used weren't real words. We listened to lots of Dr. Seuss stories as well. The favorite was Green Eggs and Ham. Before break, we learned about St. Patrick's Day. We focused mostly on fun ideas about it such as leprachauns, rainbows, and pots of gold. The students dot painted rainbows and colored leprachauns to hang in the classroom. They also listened to a few St. Patricks Day books. It was a fun way to wrap up the week before break. Now the students are learning about spring and the changes that go with spring.
