August 2016

Students have been very busy in science class at Rohan Woods….

  • JK Students made a smooth transition to the science lab for their first ever science class.  They enjoyed learning about what a scientist does and what science is.

  • Students in SK-Middle School practiced the steps of the scientific method by asking the question, "Can I make a robot that will color?"  Students enjoyed reviewing the steps of the method while creating a simple robot during this fun, hands-on STEAM experiment.

  • The Middle School students are busy preparing for their upcoming trip to the Huntsman Marine Science Center in St. Andrews, New Brunswick, Canada.  They have focused their attention on what causes tides, since they will be doing their field work in the Bay of Fundy, which "…is known for having the highest tidal range in the world." • Garden News
    • Our summer garden continues to grow.  Crops include zucchini, pumpkins, carrots, honeydew, morning glories, sunflowers, nasturtrium, tomatoes, zinnias, basil, and peppers.
    • Students in Second Grade recently visited Litzsinger Road Ecology Center to visit their native prairie habitats.  This was a knowledge building trip, as the Second Grade will spend the year researching and learning about native prairies before they add on to our existing native prairie in the fall of 2017.
