The Second Graders have had a great few weeks! They are working on practicing and performing a reader's theater play. They are learning how to project their voice and speak with expression. The Second Graders enjoyed playing math games with their Third Grade friends to enhance recall of math facts. In addition, they also enjoyed helping their Pre-K Buddies make flower pots and learn the sounds of specific letters.

Here are some other things the Second Graders have been learning:

  • Adding suffixes to words
  • Spelling comparative adjectives
  • Writing with greater detail and a variety of transition words
  • Reading and comparing vowel digraph sounds
  • Identifying vowel digraphs and dipthongs in words
  • Listening to stories to enhance auditory comprehension skills
  • Reading to find the main idea and supporting details
  • Studying new vocabulary words
  • Telling time to five minutes
  • Distinguishing between the times of events using a.m. and p.m.
  • Figuring out elapsed time
  • Multiplying x3 and x4
  • Working more independently as we prepare for Third Grade

Upcoming Events:

  • Mothers' Breakfast – Friday, May 6th, 8:00 a.m.

Sincerely,
Meaghan Knobbe
Second Grade Teacher
